Seattle writer David Schmader will host “She Said: Women’s Lives in Poetry and Prose” on Thursday, May 5, at 7 p.m. at Richard Hugo House. Featuring seven local women writers — Monica Lemoine, Corbin Lewars, Susan Rich, Elizabeth Austen, Janna Cawrse Esarey, Katharine Whitcomb, and Midge Raymond — the event, co-sponsored by Hugo House, is free and open to the public.
This eclectic group of emerging and seasoned writers from the Pacific Northwest will provide a window into less obvious aspects of womanhood. With wit and insight, writers will share from both forthcoming and award-winning works, tackling issues from relationships and sex, to pregnancy and motherhood, to work and travel — all in an engaging mix of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. Café Hugo will serve wine, beer, cocktails, and snacks, and signed copies of books will be for sale through Elliott Bay Book Company.
