What a delight to have a poem honoring the rufous hummingbird included in this gorgeous field guide/anthology from Mountaineers Books. Huge thanks to Elizabeth Bradfield, CMarie Fuhrman and Derek Sheffield for curating this sweeping, informative, vital collection celebrating the astonishing diversity in the Cascadia bioregion.

Hello Elizabeth! This is Susan Blair in Wenatchee.
Thank you for sharing this notice about the *Cascadia Field Guide *- I will order a copy – and congratulations on having your poem included in it.
I have always been mesmerized by the rufous. I first experienced them at Holden Village. They flew in hordes….fierce, territorial and beautiful. We would sit by the feeders and let them fly around our heads and faces.
